| Intense Ribs
1/3 cup of soy sauce 2 tablespoon of dry sherry 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil 1 teaspoon of five-spice powder 1 clove garlic 1/4 teaspoon of pepper 3 pounds of meaty pork spareribs or loin back ribs |

For marinade, combine soy sauce, sherry, hoisin sauce, vegetable oil, five-spice powder, garlic and pepper. Place ribs in plastic bag set into a shallow dish. Pour marinade over ribs; close bag. Marinate in the refrigerator 4 hours or overnight. Remove ribs from marinade, reserving marinade. Place ribs in center of cooking grate. Grill 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until tender, bushing with reserved marinade during the last 20 minutes of grilling time. To serve, cut ribs into 2- or 3-rib portions.
